Race Director, Nick Spiliotis
and Race Coordinator, Walter Wenzel
along with the Executive Board of the AHEPA Suffolk County Half
Marathon and 5K ,
wish to give a special thank you to
everyone that assisted this year.
This year the event was on March 27, 2011.
I would
personally like to thank everyone who helped out with the AHEPA Suffolk County
Half Marathon. We had a great day although it was a little cold. We had a
great turnout coming up just short of our all time participation record with 830
total runners completing the two races.
We had a lot more
help all around this year due in no small part to our new partner,
The Long Island Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) and
Team in Training. Special thanks go out
to Katie Stockhammer
from LLS.
We also got some media exposure due to the help of our
Sponsorship Coordinator Jeff Scher.
We also received a
tremendous amount of support from the following:
1-800-GOT JUNK, Arizona Iced Tea, The 231 Business
Network, Young Adult Institute, WBAB, Dunkin’ Donuts, Marlou Uniforms, Newsday,
Cablevision Neighborhood Journal, Nassau County Community College, Suffolk
County Community College, Hofstra University, Gifts from the Heart of North
Babylon, Benson Chiropractic of Islip, Pennysaver All Island Media, TD Bank
North Babylon, R. Wallace Construction, The New York Islanders, The Blue Lagoon
Restaurant, Lakewood Bakery, and Doughlicious Bagel Cafe,
as well dozens of individual volunteers who heard
about the event through Facebook,
LinkedIn and good old fashioned word of
mouth.
For those of you
could not make the race this year, we hope to see you next year on
Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Thank you again for
your support.
Sincerely,
Nickolas J. Spiliotis

To the volunteers,
We appreciate all of the work & effort put in by our
volunteers throughout the year.
We thank all of the people who volunteered and assisted in various the positions
within the
event
from those that assisted in getting posters and flyers out during the year
to the runners and the various business that displayed them.
We also thank all those that supplied time and items for the runners bags,
and those that helped with setup on Saturday afternoon
getting all of the supplies to the college
and
setting up the college for the event.
Then there was those that
worked on Sunday (from 6AM) just,
prior to the for the event itself,
other volunteers worked during the event
and still others assisted in the break down of the event (up to 4 PM) packing up
of everything left over
that was used for the event, so we could return the Suffolk County Community
College campus
in a condition we found it or better than it was.
We also must mention all of those that spoke to their friends and family about
the event
as well as the
dozens of
individuals who heard about the event through Facebook,
LinkedIn and good old fashioned word of mouth.
.
It was only with your tireless efforts and professionalism of all of you that we were able to
have such a trouble free event.
Our apologies if we missed anyone.
